Making of documentaries as a creative performance of real life, digging into their possibilities through specific examples to be screened and analysed. Training students through creative workshops which end with the making of documentaries.
Origin and definition of the documentary/ Historical aspects: the work of Robert Flaherty, the first theorists..../ The documentary as research of real life/ The forgotten documentary maker: Leni Riefenstah/ Direct cinema/ Social denunciation documentary/ Journalist documentary/ The work of Santiago Álvarez/ Fiction and documentary. Each topic to be studied is related to the films that are going to be shown in class.
The student should asume the making of a documentary from a previous idea, the search of topics, objectives, premises, points of view, the writing of scripts, outlines...Shooting plan and starting up the production. Posproduction. At the end there will be a collective discussion of the works and after receiving certificates the works will be shown to the rest of the school. The students will gather in teams to work with a collective idea. The works will carried out with team of profesional technicians (cameraman, sound and light technicians, editor) which is going to be directed by the group of students.

Belkis Vega (Cuba)
Graduated in 1978 of History of Arts. She studied graphic design for 4 years (until 1973) Postgrade studies in Dramatic Arts, Semiotics, Aesthetics, History of Africa, Playback theatre Techniques. Film and video director, script writer, Aidio Visual School senior teacher at Superior Institute of Arts. She has worked as war correspondent and developes an intense teaching activity at several universities all over the world where she teaches courses, seminaries and lectures together with important directors about the history and making of documentaries. Member of The Association of Cuban Writers and Artists. (UNEAC). Member of The Association of Cuban Journalists (UPEC)
